Music and Magic - Produce a Guitar from a Book - Incredible Production. A rare and highly collectible piece of magic and history.  Also great for stage work. Condition is Used. No instructions supplied.  However, I photographed several areas of the guitar and will supply them to the winning bidder.  These photos provide additional information regarding the "unfolding" action of the guitar, and how to "lock it" into place.

This is a very rare estate item.  For its age, it's in very good condition - certainly suitable for performance.  No one would expect a guitar to be produced from a book 18" x 13" x 1 7/8".   And that's exactly what happens.  The narrow top portion of the guitar folds inward, and a clever, practical method is used to  "enlarge/expand"  the bridge and end sections to give the guitar "depth".  See pictures for details. Any audience could clearly see there's is no way a guitar could fit inside that book!

The craftsman who made this item paid meticulous attention to detail. The frame of the guitar was made from fine wood, and has a slight gleam. The "strings" also look like guitar strings.  All all of this is so important for this illusion to work.  Because when produced, it actually looks like a REAL GUITAR -- and not like a magician's prop.

The effect unfolds with the performer displaying the front cover of a book titled "Music and Magic".  As he flips through the four pages, he comments on each instrument shown.  The first one is pair of "early" bongo drums; next, a modern trap set (drums); then a Saxaphone, and finally a sketch of a guitar.  At this point, the performer would likely allude to the "Magic" part of the book title. At this point, he would flip both sides of the book toward himself, which provides the cover needed to remove and produce the guitar from the book.  I can envision a creative entertainer having some music played in the background. As he is flipping the pages, a bongo drum is heard, then the rhythmic sounds of drums we hear today, followed by a jazzy sound of a Saxophine, and then a crazy guitar solo. As the audience is listening to the dynamic guitar music, he magically produces a real guitar and mimics playing it.  Although this prop is not a playable instrument, it doesn't need to be.  The magic is so strong that it could be used to open or close an act.

Obviously, this illusion is not suitable for everyone.  But for someone who wants something different (that hasn't been seen before), or someone who incorporates music in his/her act, this apparatus would be a real winner. A collector of fine apparatus would also be a great candidate for this item.  This may be one of a kind?

Comes with Illustrated Photo Instructions

CONDITION:   You will notice that one side of the book has some patches of scotch tape (which the audience would not likely notice, especially if the book is held close to your body).   The small thin side has a couple breaks, which have been re-glued.  This does not compromise the performance in any way, nor compromise the workings of the effect.  VG

The Guitar is in LN Condition.  It locks and opens perfectly and looks exactly like a real Guitar.  you can even strum the cords if you wish.
